How to add a watermark to a PDF

  1. Open the Stamp & Page Numbers tool on the WhisperPDF homepage — watermarking lives there — and add your PDF.
  2. Type your stamp text — CONFIDENTIAL, DRAFT, DO NOT COPY, your name or business: whatever the document needs to say.

Match it to the purpose: DRAFT for unfinished work, CONFIDENTIAL for sensitive content, or — for ID copies — the purpose itself, like 'For rental application, March 2026'. A purpose watermark is a recognized way to limit misuse of an ID scan.

Can this remove a watermark from a PDF?

No — honestly. This tool adds stamps; removing marks that are baked into a document is a different job, and sites promising one-click removal of other people's watermarks are usually removing someone's protection.

Will the watermark be on every page?

Yes, every page gets the same stamp in the same position and opacity.

Can someone just delete my watermark?

A determined person with editing software can attack any visible mark, watermarking is a deterrent and a declaration, not a lock. It stops casual copying and makes the document's status unmistakable.

Does the watermark affect readability?
